Services Offered

The Office

The Sustainability Office offers many resources to assist the Truman community to be a more sustainable campus. Anyone is welcome to drop by our office in Violette 1310 during office hours, 10:00am-3:00pm on weekdays during the Fall and Spring semesters, to ask any questions they may have about sustainability at Truman. You can also contact us by email at Sustainability@truman.edu

Free Items

The following items are available for free to students: water bottle, travel mug, silverware kits, tumbler, bike bell, shopping bag, small compost bin, or assortment of environmental related stickers.  These items can be picked up any time when the office is open.

Rentable Items

Any organization can request different items to use for hosting events.  Simply fill out our request form (QR code is in our window) to ask for any of our inventory. You will receive a confirmation email to let you know that the inventory requested is available for pick up.  Inventory can only be rented for up to a week, and must be returned clean and ready for another organization to use. We may work with organizations if they’d like to check out inventory on a consistent basis.  We also have free compostable waste collection bags that can be picked up by student organizations.

Recycling

We take many forms of recycling, including items not taken in the dorms/Kirksville. Anyone is free to stop by during open hours to drop off recycling or to put any recycling in our blue recycling bin right outside our door when the office is closed. As long as it’s clean and dry, we take:

  • Newspaper
  • Magazines
  • Aluminum Foil
  • Junk Mail
